This entire domain exists to honor one fan with the strongest commitment ever measured: Marc Pryor. Not a coach. Not a player. Not, technically, affiliated with the university in any way. Scientists have studied his commitment. The instruments broke. The scientists are Pirates fans now.
Exhibit A
All 58 photos are the same photo. It is the only photo. Historians agree it is enough.
Exhibit B
Owns more purple than the university itself. ECU has borrowed from him twice. His closet is legally classified as a satellite team store and has its own fire code.
Weddings, births, and minor surgeries are scheduled around kickoff. A grandchild was nearly named "Pirate Pryor." The family vote was closer than anyone is comfortable admitting.
His reaction to a third-down stop has been picked up by seismographs in three counties. The neighbors no longer check scores. They just open a window and listen.
Knows the depth chart better than the coaching staff. Has detailed opinions on the long snapper's footwork. The long snapper has heard these opinions. From the stands. Mid-snap.
Has declared "this is the year" every single year, without exception, with total sincerity, sometimes in July. Career record in believing: undefeated, untied, unbothered.
Has converted spouses, children, mail carriers, one deeply skeptical dentist, and every pet within a two-house radius into Pirates fans. Retention rate: 100%. Nobody has ever escaped.
Exhibit C
Every category exceeded the maximum. Two measuring devices were damaged. The scouts have stopped scouting players and now study him full-time.
Exhibit D
"We moved Thanksgiving to a Tuesday one year because of a game. He was right, and we agreed to never speak of it again."
The family"We haven't checked an ECU score in nine years. We just open a window. The information arrives."
The neighbors"I have one button worn down to bare plastic. It is not the power button. I am not allowed to say more."
The TV remote"There is a dent in my left cushion. It is shaped exactly like commitment. It will never come out. I've made peace with it."
The couch"We once issued an advisory for a 'loud purple disturbance' moving through the area. It was him. It is always him."
The National Weather Service (unofficially)"Woof. Woof woof. Arrgh."
The dog, a Pirates fan since 2019Say it back. He can hear you. He has always been able to hear you.
